We knew it would be cooler when we reached Johannesburg, but we were not quite prepared for the chill in Harrismith. It is up in the mountains and was a brisk -2 celsius! The town of Harrismith was literally empty. No one was on the streets and the windows were boarded or covered. We found out later that the town shuts down around 2pm on Sundays and everyone was hiding from the unusual cold.
Luckily, Josh had found yet another great spot. We arrived at De Ouide Houize around 5pm, just in time to tea and sherry in front of our fireplace. We relaxed a bit before enjoying a fabulous 3 course meal prepared by our hosts. The pesky clouds kept us from seeing the Southern Cross, but we were soon snuggled in bed and had a great night's sleep.
