England and Portugal and Spain, oh my!

As Mom said in the latest post, I recently traveled to Spain with Tia, Jeffy, and Zack. I have noticed that I have done a considerable amount of traveling this week. On Saturday I was in England, Sunday Portugal, and on Monday I was in Spain.

We left Monday morning for Spain and arrived in Sevilla at mid-afternoon. After checking into our hotel and having a very nice lunch, we walked around the little square and the cathedral. We went for a bite of gelato, then went to the Alcazar. After six o'clock, tickets were free! The Alcazar was HUGE, with fountains full of fish and gardens with blooming with flowers, some that I've never seen before. The patterns just blew my mind, perfectly geometric and symmetrical that it was very pleasing to my OCD inclined brain. My geometry teacher would be proud.
After the Alcazar, we went to the bullfighting ring for a little tour of the ring and the many mementos within. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel to shower off. Our dinner included some awesome meat and free shots for the adults and a free chocolate mousse for me :).

The next morning, we headed off bright and early to the Alhambra, which was a few hours away in Granada. The architecture is similar to that of the Alcazar, but the whole area is much bigger and grander. Similar geometric designs can be seen throughout, and there are also many fountains and pools of fish in this palace. The hedges and vines adorn the walls and we were able to climb up to the watch towers that overlook the city. It was really hot, especially in the high towers. The view was amazing, and none of us really wanted to leave, but eventually we had to get back in the car and head back to Portugal. It was a long car ride back, but definitely worth the trip. We weren't even able to see the entire place, even with all the time we had! That just means that we have to come back ;).
